Pilot plant for dredging in the Port of Huelva

The project developed by Water Challenge in the Port of Huelva aims to demonstrate the potential of the ASE&C technology for the treatment of dredged and water of port interest, with a solution capable of operating on highly complex fluids. This pilot plant was designed to provide a more sustainable and efficient management of the port's water resources, with the purpose of using 100% of the water contained in the waste and obtaining dry solids with commercial potential.

In an environment such as the port, where treated water can be re-used in internal industrial processes - such as cleaning, cooling or supplying machinery - this plant represents a key step towards a circular economy model without liquid discharges.

The local installation also avoids transporting waste to other plants, which helps to reduce logistical costs and emissions. Furthermore, it was conceived as a modular and transportable system, housed in containers that can be easily relocated according to the needs of the environment.

The pilot plant was publicly presented in February 2025 at an event held in the Port of Huelva itself in front of more than 120 attendees from the institutional, port and industrial spheres.
