IoT Digitalization – Smart Monitoring of Fluid Treatment Plants
This project, led by Water Challenge in collaboration with Cloud Studio IoT and funded by the Activa Startups program of the Community of Madrid, aims to digitize fluid treatment plants through IoT technologies that enable real-time monitoring and control of critical process variables.
The initiative resulted in the development of a scalable architecture and a remote management system that tracks key indicators such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, and solids concentration. These tools improve operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enable 24/7 remote supervision.
The system has been validated in five pilot plants and is ready for deployment in up to 100 installations. Key benefits include lower energy and operating costs, enhanced predictive maintenance, faster response to incidents, and support for international market expansion through remote access.
This project directly contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
