Water Challenge joins the Sustainability Conference at the Port of Huelva
Water Challenge took part in the 3rd Environmental Sustainability and Port Management Conference, hosted by the Port of Huelva in collaboration with the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts (ATPYC) and Puertos del Estado. The event has become a benchmark in sharing best practices for sustainable and innovative port management.
One of the key messages from the event came from Catalina García Carrasco, Minister for Sustainability and Environment, who emphasized the need for coordination between public institutions, port authorities and private companies to build more efficient and competitive ports.
In the roundtable on "Strategies to address water challenges and land use", moderated by Obdulio Serrano Hidalgo (Puertos del Estado), water was highlighted as a valuable and limited resource that ports must manage independently and efficiently.
That’s where Water Challenge’s ASEC technology makes a difference. Our solution enables the recovery of 100% of water from dredging operations and port wastewater, with very low energy consumption, making it suitable for reuse in nearby industrial activities.
We were honoured to share the table with Alfonso Álvarez Rodríguez (EMGRISA), Carles Segura Ballesté (Port Authority of Tarragona) and Guadalupe Díaz Alonso (Port of Huelva). We are also deeply grateful to the Port of Huelva, the site of our first pilot plant, for the opportunity to contribute to such a valuable event.
